URL shortening: Turn long URLs into short links
URL shortening turns a long web address into a short one. With Joo.is, you can register a resource’s original URL, create a short link and share the same link as a QR code.
How to use it
- Log in to Joo.is and select Create a short link.
- Paste the web address you want to share and save the link.
- Open the link to check its destination before sharing it in notices or on bulletin boards.
Which URLs can I shorten?
Register URLs for worksheets, videos, surveys or reference materials that open on the web. If the original resource requires permission, its owner must set the sharing permissions separately.
Short links vs. resource collections
Use a short link to send people directly to one web page. A resource collection page is useful for sharing several URLs together, such as videos, worksheets and assignments.
Frequently asked questions
Does shortening a URL change the original resource’s permissions?
No. URL shortening changes the address. Login and viewing permissions for the original document must be set in its original service.
Can I create them for free?
